One of my favorite parts of Magick Works is using fresh or dried herbs to make incense compounds. Whether I make loose powered incense to burn on a piece of charcoal or if I fashion incense cones that burn by themselves, I always enjoy working with the gifts of the Earth. I always thank the spirit of the plants when I use them, and ask that they grant their powers to the user of the incense. When it comes to herbal magick, I know of no higher authority than the late Scott Cunningham. The horror of his untimely death at the shockingly young age of 36 is only eased by the immense body of work Mr. Cunningham left behind. His instructional books still sell and comprise the best source of learning I can think of in this field.
